Mittenhausen is a district of the municipality of Obermarchtal in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg . The hamlet is about two kilometers west of Obermarchtal above the Danube valley .
history
The place was first mentioned before 1150 in a chronicle (Korie of the 16th century) as "Witinhusen". A noble family from Witinhusen is mentioned from the 12th to the 13th century. Perhaps she was sitting in the lost castle on the Jörgenberg . Mittenhausen had probably gone to the Marchtal monastery as a fief of the Counts von Berg .
Ecclesiastically the place was a branch of the parish Obermarchtal. The chapel was built after the Thirty Years War .
