Mk 47 Striker
The MK 47 Striker is a 40 mm machine grenade launcher with an integrated fire control system . This weapon is produced by General Dynamics ; the fire control system is supplied by Raytheon .
Production began in 2004 after General Dynamics signed a $ 16 million contract with the US government . This weapon is intended to replace the 40-mm machine grenade launcher Mk 19 .
construction
In addition to conventional grenades, the MK 47 grenade launcher can fire programmed shrapnel grenades that explode in the air after a set distance.
The fire control system consists of a screen with 3x optical magnification , a laser range finder and a ballistic computer . A thermal imaging camera can also be installed; the image is then redirected to the screen. The fire control system enables a very high accuracy.
The model is currently in use by the US Army and in Afghanistan and Syria by the US Special Operations Forces.
