The Mkuze River is a river in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal .
course
The river rises to the east of the great edge step of the Drakensberg in northeastern South Africa. It flows through the Lebombo Mountains in an easterly direction. It then flows over the wide coastal plain in the north of KwaZulu-Natal and reaches the Mkuze game reserve in the 450 km² Mkuze swamps and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park , the borders of which it forms. In the swamps it changes course to the south. After another 20 km through the swamps, it flows into the northern end of Lake St. Lucia . The Mkuze is the largest and most water-rich tributary of the lake.
Hydrometry
The flow rate of the river was measured in m³ / s at the mouth (values read from the diagram).
