Mkuze (also Mkhuze , Mkuzi or Mkusi ) is a place in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal . He belongs to the Jozini community in the Umkhanyakude district . The place is the seat of the district administration and is considered the trade and logistics center of the Elephant Coast , a tourist area in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The name of the place comes from the Mkuze River , one of the rivers of the Mkuze Wetland System . Mkuze is at an altitude of 140 meters above sea level. In 2011 the place had 4,414 inhabitants.

Attractions
- The Mkuze Game Reserve is known for its great diversity of birds. The different habitats - from the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains in the east to savannah areas and swamps to various forests - are home to over 420 different species of birds. In the north and east, the border of the wildlife park consists of the Mkuze River.
- The Ghost Mountain is an ancient burial site for chieftains. Local legends claim that the mountain is haunted.
