Moʻunu (also: Mounu ) is a small island in the center of Tongatapu in the Pacific . Politically, it belongs to the Kingdom of Tonga .
geography
The Motu is located in the center of the archipelago in the central lagoon Fanga'uta Lagoon . The island is off the west coast of Hoi and across from the Tungi Estate peninsula .
There is an island of the same name in the Vavaʻu archipelago and a reef Mounu ( ⊙ ) is located just off the coast of Nukuʻalofa .
climate
The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands in the Tongatapu group, Mo'unu is occasionally hit by cyclones .
