The Moarhof in Roßholzen

The Moarhof in Roßholzen , a district of the municipality of Samerberg in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim , was built in 1848. The farmhouse is a protected architectural monument .

history

The Moarhof is first mentioned in a document in 1363. It was rebuilt after a fire in 1848.

The first church building in Roßholzen - the oldest part of the Samerberg - is before 788 AD. The church was built on a Roßwiese, which means that there must have been farmers nearby. Roßholzen was next mentioned in a document in 1363, when Hinrich von Zaisering bequeathed nine estates, including the Moarhof, to the Prutting parish.

The history of the Moarhof goes back to the year 1363. In 1671 the farm had 3 horses, 1 foal, 8 cows, 4 young cattle, 4 foster calves and 5 sheep.

In 1848 the farm burned down to the foundations and was rebuilt in its present form by Josef Strein. With the exception of a small renovation of the stable in the 1960s, the structure of the farm has not changed in the last 164 years. The centerpiece is the historic threshing floor, the carpenter's construction of which is still in its original state.

Elisabeth Strein was the farmer on the farm until her death in 2005. She was unmarried and ran the farm for over 30 years with the servant Josef Maier - the Moar Sepp. He lived and worked on the farm for over 70 years before he died in July 2010 at the age of 85. Before his death, he supported Simone and Wolfgang Kuffner with valuable advice on the nature and character of the Moarhof, which contributed to the fact that the Kuffner family decided to buy in May 2010 and renovated the Moarhof.

The Einfirsthof combines the house, stable and threshing floor under one roof. During the renovation from 2011, the gable arbor was rebuilt using historical remains. Windows and doors from the construction period have also been preserved.

In 2014, Simone and Wolfgang Kuffner received the Monument Protection Medal of the Free State of Bavaria for the exemplary renovation of the monument. In the award, the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments stated the following: “The wooden structure was exposed, encased with a steel and glass skin and then covered with wooden slats. Outwardly, the threshing floor looks almost unchanged; This construction, however, enables the business section to be used as an event space and also provides a view of the Chiemgau Alps. ”In addition, the Moarhof was awarded the Rosenheim Monument Prize in 2012 and the Meggle Founder's Prize (2nd place) in 2014.
