The Moazagotl , also Grunau 7 , was a high-performance glider by Wolf Hirth that was built in 1933. Characteristic of the braced high- wing aircraft is its gull wing , which is heavily swept after the bend .

history

The Moazagotl cloud formation inspired Wolf Hirth to name a new glider. Hirth realized that it makes sense to fly quickly from thermal source to thermal source. He commissioned Friedrich Wenk (design) and Edmund Schneider to build a suitable glider. This is presented for the first time on the Rhön in 1933 . In 1934 he flew with the Moazagotl on a South America expedition which had been organized by Walter Georgii and in which Heini Dittmar , Peter Riedel and Hanna Reitsch also took part. At the end of the war in 1945, the aircraft, meanwhile used by the Hornberg Reich Sailing School near Schwäbisch Gmünd , was burned when the US troops approached.

The Moazagotl served as a template for the reduced further development Minimoa , of which over 100 copies were made.
