The Göppingen Gö 3 Minimoa was a glider manufactured by Sportflugzeugbau Göppingen Martin Schempp, founded in 1935 . Characteristic of the cantilevered middle decker is its gull wing , which is strongly swept after the bend . Its silhouette later became the company logo. The gliding index is 76.

history

A Gö-3 Minimoa, exhibited in the German Gliding Museum on the Wasserkuppe

Like the Gö-1 , it was designed by the designers Wolf Hirth and Reinhold Seeger. The model was a scaled-down further development of the " Moazagotl " glider (hence the name Mini atur Moa zagotl).

construction

The superstructure essentially consisted of a wooden frame construction, the fuselage being planked with plywood and the wings being covered with fabric. The first prototype was a shoulder wing, then the familiar shape was adopted. The wing shape goes back to Friedrich Wenk , who designed the Moazagotl.

use

The prototype was able to compete in the Rhön competition in the summer of 1935. The longest distance flight with a Minimoa took place in 1939 and ran over 523 kilometers.
