Modasa is a city in the Indian state of Gujarat .

The city is the capital of the Aravalli district, founded in 2013 . Modasa has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 12 wards (constituencies).

Modasa's history goes back thousands of years. It is believed that the Modasa region has been populated since the days of the Indus Valley civilization . Many architectural objects, coins, religious artifacts, bricks, etc. have been found in archaeological sites in the Modasa area.

Demographics

The city's population is 67,648 according to the 2011 census. Modasa has a gender ratio of 975 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 87.2% in 2011. Almost 52% of the population are Muslim , approx. 48% are Hindus and less than 1% belong to another or no religion. Children under 6 years of age are 12.4% of the population.

economy

It is an economic center for agricultural exports, both at the state and national levels. As a center for the surrounding villages, Modasa functions as a transport hub for residents and tourists and has two large hospitals.
