The Moffat House Hotel is a hotel in the Scottish village of Moffat in the Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

The building was completed in 1762 after a year of construction. The building owner was John Hope, 2nd Earl of Hopetoun , who entrusted the important Scottish architect John Adam with the planning.

The hotel is set back from High Street ( A701 ) on the western edge of Moffat. The east-facing front of the three-story building is five axes wide. The masonry consists of small stone blocks that were built into layered masonry . The red natural stone surrounds are contrasted in color . The central main portal is flanked by Doric columns. Twelve-part lattice windows are installed along the facade . Belt cornices divide the facades horizontally. Two occur on the back Ausluchten out round. The building closes with a slate-covered platform roof with dormers on the sides.

Two-story pavilions flank the main building. They have segment-arched gates and close with slate-covered hip roofs .
