Moggio (unit)

Moggio , also Moggo, was an Italian measure of volume and grain .

First as an oil measure in Mantua , it was later used as a grain measure on the Ionian Islands and in the Kingdom of Tuscany . In Naples the term moggio or moggia (area measure) also stood for a field measure.

The measure continued to be used after 1803, when the metric system was introduced.

Coal measure

  • Milan The moggio was a measure of volume and was used as a measure of coal.

From 1813 onwards, the measure was only used deleted and corresponded to the new pint.

  • Milan 2nd version 1 Moggio = 11,143.4 Parisian cubic inches = 221.045 liters (= 225 liters)

The heaped measure was 11,348 Paris cubic inches.
