Mohamed Chabani (born September 4, 1934 in Oumech near Biskra , † September 3, 1964 in Oran ) ( Arabic محمد شعباني) actually Taher Chabani was an Algerian politician and the youngest colonel in the world.

Life

Mohamed Chabani was born in Oumech. After studying in Biskra he went in 1952 by Constantine , where he at the university studied Ben Badis. After the start of the Algerian War in 1954, he became Si Elhawas' assistant in the Sahara . He then became a lieutenant and in April 1956 the first political officer. In 1959 he became chief of Region 3 of Wilayat VI of the state.

After the end of the Algerian War , Houari Boumedienne , head of the Liberation Army and the FLN party , wanted to reorganize military responsibilities and secure his power. He distrusted Chabani and discharged him from the army in 1964. Since Chabani did not agree, he was accused of conspiracy. On September 3, 1964, Mohamed Chabani was sentenced to the death penalty and executed on behalf of then President Ahmed Ben Bella . On October 24, 1984, he was rehabilitated by a presidential decree.
