Mohammad Mohammadi Reyschahri , ( Persian محمد محمدی ری‌شهری, DMG Moḥammad Moḥammadī Ray-Šahrī ; * October 1946 in Ray ) is a Shiite scholar with the religious title of Ayatollah . From August 18, 1984 to August 1, 1989, he was the first head of the Iranian secret service VEVAK .

Reyschahri was the judge who sentenced Sadegh Ghotbzadeh in 1980 for the Nojeh Coup and in 1982 for the death penalty . In 1990 he became the first chairman of the Special Court for the Clergy . In 1997 Reyschahri ran as a candidate for the Iranian presidential elections , but was considered to have no chance from the start. Reyschahri is married to a daughter of Ayatollah Ali Meschkini .
