Ali Younesi

Ali Younesi ( Persian علی یونسی; * 1955 in Nahavand ) is an Iranian cleric with the religious title Hodschatoleslam and was head of the Iranian secret service VEVAK from February 23, 1999 to August 24, 2005 .

After the Islamic Revolution , Younesi initially worked as a judge at the Revolutionary Court in Qom and then in Tehran . Together with Mohammad Reischahri, he reorganized the Iranian secret service in 1984 and later worked in the military secret service.

Younesi was appointed the new head of the secret service by Mohammed Khatami in 1997 and dismissed in 2005 when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office.
