Mohawk Trail

The Mohawk Trail is a former trade trail of the Mohawk Indians, which was an important link between the various tribes on the Atlantic coast and the tribes in what is now New York State.

The historic trail ran along the Millers River and Deerfield River . Today, the path roughly corresponds to Massachusetts Route 2 . After it was asphalted in 1914, the road became the first scenic road in the United States and became one of the most popular car routes in New England.

The Mohawk Trail was entered on the National Register of Historic Places on April 3, 1973 under number 73000283 .
