Willi Mumme (born May 29, 1946 in Damme ) is a former German soccer player . The winger played 65 games for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the Bundesliga from 1971 to 1973 and scored five goals.

Career

At the age of 19, the talented attacker Willi Mumme moved from Rot-Weiß Damme to VfL Osnabrück in the North Regional Football League . After two years of adapting to the performance of the second-class regional league, he was a member of the parent team of the Lila-Whites from the Bremer Brücke under coach Hans-Wilhelm Loßmann from the 1967/68 season . In the season 1968/69 , 1969/70 and 1970/71 Mumme celebrated three times in a row the championship in the Regionalliga Nord, but always got the short straw in the following rounds of promotion to the Bundesliga . For VfL, Mumme played 161 rounds in the Regionalliga Nord from 1965 to 1971, scoring 37 goals. In addition, there were 23 games with two goals in the three promotion rounds. He was dangerous for goals and a good preparation for the central attacker. On September 30, 1969, he stormed in the selection of Northern Germany in Kiel in a 4-0 win against Jutland. Mumme scored two goals, Franz-Josef Hönig and Klaus Zaczyk one goal each. In his second use in the NFV selection, on September 8, 1970 in Aalborg again against Jutland, he remained in the 1-1 draw without a goal.

For the 1971/72 season , Mumme made it into the Bundesliga despite the missed promotions with VfL, he moved to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . Mumme was a regular at Oberhausen, in his two years with the “Kleeblatt-Elf” he played 65 times in the Bundesliga and scored five goals. 1973 Oberhausen was relegated and Mumme moved to Borussia Dortmund for the last season of the old second-rate regional soccer league, 1973/74 . He stayed at BVB for a year and played 31 games in the West Regionalliga and scored four goals. For Mumme two more posts as a footballer followed; he played for Hammer SpVg and at the end of his career he joined Bünder SV . There he met his former Osnabrück companions Friedhelm Holtgrave and Karl-Heinz Diehl .

Mumme had been a trained pedagogue since 1976. He was still in charge of Falke Steinfeld as a player coach and lives again in his native Damme.
