Rot-Weiß Damme (officially: Sportverein Rot-Weiß Damme eV ) is a sports club from Damme in the district of Vechta . The club offers football , handball , fistball and Indiaca . The club became known for its football department, which played in the 1962/63 season in what was then the second-rate amateur league West .

history

Rot-Weiß Damme was founded in September 1945 and is the successor club to the Dammer sports club founded in 1927 . In 1950 the first team was promoted to the district class. Seven years later, the Dammer first became champions of the district class, but failed in the promotion round to the amateur league at Frisia Wilhelmshaven and the Delmenhorster TB . In 1960, he was finally promoted to the amateur league. A year later, today's sporting home was inaugurated with the Dersa Sports Park . In the very first season in the new stadium, the Dammers became champions and made it into the Amateur Oberliga West.

There the team got off to an excellent start with a 5-1 win against VfL Germania Leer . In the course of the season it became clear that the league was a size too big for the red and whites, so that the Dammer had to relegate last. 1964 succeeded in qualifying for the fourth-class Verbandsliga West , which they had to leave down two years later after a playoff loss to TuRa Melle . In the meantime, the Dammer slipped into the district league. The team named after the American professional club Cosmos New York Cosmos Damme returned to the District League in 1975, reached the Association League in 1978 and made it through to the National League West a year later . In the 1979/80 season they became runner-up there. Until 1992, the red and whites held in the state league.

Since then, Rot-Weiß Damme has been an elevator team between the regional and regional leagues. In the 2010/11 season, the team rose as champions of the district league in the Landesliga Weser / Ems , but they had to leave it again after the 2012/13 season. In 2018, the Dammer were relegated to the Vechta district league.
