The Mohs monument is a listed monument in the district of Stadt Gernrode, part of the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the Gernröder old town on the north side of Marktstrasse immediately west of the also listed building at Marktstrasse 8a on a small square and is listed as a monument in the local register of monuments.

Architecture and history

The monument was erected in honor of the natural scientist and mineralogist Friedrich Mohs (1773–1839) who was born in Gernrode on September 16, 1989, the 150th year of his death. At the same time, celebrations took place in Gernrode on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the city charter . It consists of a with a bronze plate provided erratic .
