Moldomussa Kongantiev

Moldomussa Tashbolotowitsch Kongantijew ( Russian Молдомуса Ташболотович Конгантиев ; born March 31, 1958 in Mailuussuu , Kyrgyz SSR ) is a Kyrgyz politician and former interior minister .

Life

In 1979 Kongantiev began serving in the executive branch . From 1979 to 1985 he worked as a militiaman to protect the state banks. He then worked on the fight against looting until 1991 and on the fight against organized crime from 1991 to 1993.

In 1989 Kongantiev graduated from the State University with a degree in law .

From 1995 he worked at the Department for Combating Organized Crime in the Shalalabatsky District. In 1998 he became a personnel manager there. In 1999 he was appointed chairman of the interregional department for internal affairs at Osh and Schalalabatski in the Ministry of Interior of Kyrgyzstan and was this until 2000.

From 2005 to 2008 he was chairman of the internal administration in Bishkek .

On January 14, 2008, he was appointed Minister of the Interior of Kyrgyzstan. After Igor Chudinov's cabinet resigned on October 20, 2009, he was reappointed to this office on October 22, 2009 under Prime Minister Danijar Ussenow .

Riots in April 2010

In the context of the unrest of April 2010, there was uncertainty about the status of the politician. Citing official sources, news agencies reported that Kongantiev had died in the city of Talas . After these reports, he was taken hostage by demonstrators and beaten by them. He is said to have died on the way to the hospital. This message was denied by government circles. Heavily drawn but vividly, it was featured in a television report on April 8, 2010. The previous opposition appointed Bolot Scherniyazov as the new interior minister.
