Igor Vitalyevich Tschudinow ( Russian Игорь Витальевич Чудинов , born August 21, 1961 in Frunze, today Bishkek ) is a Kyrgyz politician . He was Prime Minister of his country from 2007 to 2009.

life and career

Igor Tschudinow belongs to the Russian minority in Kyrgyzstan. In 1983 he graduated from the Kyrgyz State University in mathematics . In the same year he began his professional career as a programmer in the computer factory "50 Years of the USSR" in the Kyrgyz capital Frunze (today Bishkek ). He joined the operational organization of the Kyrgyz Komsomol and rose to the position of second secretary of the Kyrgyz Komsomol and a member of the Central Committee of the Soviet Komsomol in Moscow until the collapse of the Soviet Union .

After the political change, he briefly studied economics in Moscow and from 1994 worked in the private sector. In April 2005 he became the general manager of the Kyrgysgas Open Joint Stock Company .

In February 2007 he moved to the Kyrgyz government as Minister for Industry, Energy and Raw Materials. On December 24, 2007, he was elected Prime Minister of his country. On October 20, 2009, Chudinov and his government resigned. The reason given was the conflict over a government and administrative reform sought by President Kurmanbek Bakiyev .

In August 2010, Chudinov was arrested. After the political upheaval in April 2010 , the new government under Rosa Otunbajewa took action against representatives of the Bakiyev regime. Like other representatives of the regime, Chudinov is accused of being responsible for the deaths of demonstrators critical of the government in April 2010. He is also accused of embezzling state funds and of participating in an attempted coup against the new government in early August 2010.
