Nikolai Timofeyevich Tanajew ( Kyrgyz / Russian Николай Тимофеевич Танаев , scientific. Transliteration Nikolaj Timofeevic Tanaev * 5. November 1945 in Mikhailovka , Oblast Pensa , Soviet Union ; † 19th July 2020 in Moscow ) was 2002-2005 Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan under President Askar Akayev . He was an ethnic Russian .

Tanayev graduated from the Irrigation / Drainage Construction Institute in Jambul, now Taras ( Kazakhstan ) in 1969 as a senior civil engineer, and he worked in this direction for many years. From 1979 to 1984 he was on the City Council of Osh (Kyrgyzstan), and in 2001 he became Deputy Prime Minister. After Kurmanbek Bakiyev's resignation on May 22, 2002, he was first executive and then official prime minister. On March 24, 2005 he resigned in the course of the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan in 2005 (tulip revolution).
