Moltke is a small, bowl-shaped impact crater on the front of the moon on the southern edge of Mare Tranquillitatis , east of Delambre crater and northwest of Torricelli .

The lunar grooves of the Rimae Hypatia run north of Moltke .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Prussian General Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke .
