The Moltke was a fish steamer that was used by the Imperial Navy as an outpost boat during the First World War .

The Moltke was built as a fishing steamer by the shipbuilding company Unterweser AG Schichau for the shipping company Nordsee and was number 99. It was launched on May 23, 1914. The ship was delivered on June 8, 1914.

After the outbreak of World War I, the ship was requisitioned by the Imperial Navy and used as an outpost boat off the North Sea coast from September 21, 1914 . On January 2, 1916, it ran aground off Spiekeroog during a winter storm . At low tide and easterly winds, the remains of the wreck can still be seen on the beach of Spiekeroog near the Wolfgang house in 2020.

  1. The name is sometimes also given with Count Moltke . It is not clear whether the addition Graf was an additional name that was given to the ship during the war, or whether it was just a seal.
