Momodou S. Foon

Momodou S. Foon is a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

Foon holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Monetary Economics from the University of Glasgow (UK). He previously graduated from Haverford College (United States) with degrees in economics and political science .

Foon began his professional career in 1979 at the Central Bank of Gambia . In addition to his numerous positions in the central bank, he worked from 1993 to 1995 as an advisor to the Minister of Finance and Economics.

In July 1999, Foon moved to the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) in Lagos (Nigeria) and was Director General of the institute from February to May 2009. Afterwards Foon was (in Gambia Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning and Industrial Development English Ministry of Economic Planning and Industrial Development ).

He taught advanced macroeconomics at the University of Gambia's Faculty of Economics .

On 19 March 2010 by President Foon was Yahya Jammeh to the Cabinet as Minister of Finance and Economy ( English Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs ) called and will succeed Abdou Kolley . He will hand over the office to Kolley on July 21st.
