Monaco was an English pop band formed in 1995 as a side project of former New Order bassist Peter Hook and former Revenge singer David Potts. The band's best known song is What Do You Want from Me? from the album Music for Pleasure , which sold over 500,000 copies.

history

After the success of their debut album Monaco published in 1999, the second, simply by Monaco -titled album, for which the record company Papillon Records but almost ever took any promotion, so that it is bad sold despite decent reviews. After musical differences - David Potts was dissatisfied with the fact that Monaco had not broken away from the sound, which was heavily based on the New Order - and what Potts said was "disastrous" live performance at the Eclipse Festival, Hook and Potts decided in 2000, to disband the band. Potts formed the group RAM and embarked on a solo career, while Hook rejoined New Order, where he played until 2007, before founding Freebass that year .

In March 2007 Hook and Potts played some Monaco songs together at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester under the name "Hooky & Pottsy". Former Monaco drummer Paul Kehoe and Peter Hook's son Jack were there. In October 2007, the same line-up played as Monaco at the Ritz in Manchester.
