Moncef Ben Abdallah

Moncef Ben Abdallah ( Arabic المنصف بن عبد الله, DMG al-Munṣif b. ʿAbd Allaah ; * October 21, 1946 in Tunis ) is a Tunisian politician and diplomat .

Life

He studied at the University of Tunis until 1968 Mathematics and was at the Ecole Centrale Paris trained to 1972 as an engineer. From 1972 to 1975 he was head of production at the Society Tunisienne d'Electricite et du Gaz (STEG). In 1975/76 he worked for the Tunisian Ministry of Economic Affairs. In 1978/79 he was then deputy director of the Tunisian state oil company, Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activites Petroliere (ETAP). In 1979 he became Director of Industry in the Tunisian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Energy. In 1980 he worked as head of cabinet in the Tunisian Ministry of Economic Affairs. In 1980 he became General Director of the Tunisia Investment Promotion Agency. He held this office until 1985. Further leading positions in the Tunisian economy and economic administration followed. He was a consultant on economic issues for the Tunisian President, President of the Tunisian Energy Control Agency (AME) and in 1991/92 President of the cement company Enfidha. In 1992 he became President of STEG and held this position until 1996.

In April 1996 Moncef Ben Abdallah took over the newly established State Secretariat for investments and restructuring of public companies. An important task was the extensive privatization of state-owned Tunisian companies.

In 1997 he became Tunisian Minister for Industry and in 2002 for Industry and Energy, until he went to Berlin in 2003 as Tunisian Ambassador to Germany . In 2009 he became doyen of the Arab ambassadors in Germany.

He later worked as a consultant for the Tunisian Ministry of Energy.

He is married and has three children. In addition to Arabic , he also speaks English and French .
