life and work

Monica Klingler trained in modern dance at the Laban Center for Movement and Dance in London from 1978 to 1979 . She joined Elisabeth Oppliger in Zurich for two years.

“I choose movements that are images of basic human states. Each dance has a single such movement on the subject. The dynamic of the piece arises from the carefully composed play with rhythms, tensions, vibrations, alienations of this one basic movement and the corresponding gestures. The pieces are based on a seamless transition of movement and rhythm and tend to condense the atmosphere. My dances are movement songs, the basic tones of which represent remnants of dreams residing in the body, memories of childhood movement needs or the belching of belonging to nature. Such physical memories are amazingly related to all of us. "
