James Omagbemi

James Omagbemi ( James Stephen Omajuwa "Jimmy" Omagbemi; born November 26, 1930 in Warri , † November 12, 2012 in Hooks , Texas , United States ) was a Nigerian sprinter .

In 1958, he finished fifth over 100 yards at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff and won silver with the Nigerian 4-by-110-yard relay.

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , he was eliminated over 200 m in the preliminary run and reached the semifinals in the 4 x 100 meter relay . Also in Tokyo in 1964 , he was eliminated from the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay in the semifinals.

In 1958 he became English champion over 100 yards.

His son Victor Omagbemi and his daughter-in-law Mary Onyali-Omagbemi were also successful as sprinters.
