Monika Kemperle

Monika Kemperle (born November 10, 1958 in Bleiberg-Nötsch , Bad Bleiberg municipality ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and senior secretary in the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB). She has been a member of the Austrian Federal Council since 2007 .

education and profession

Kemperle attended elementary school in Bad Bleiberg from 1965 to 1969 and then switched to secondary school in Bleiberg-Nötsch from 1969 to 1973. She then graduated from the Federal Commercial Academy in Villach between 1973 and 1974 , but then dropped out of school and then learned the profession of office clerk from 1973 to 1974, while at the same time attending vocational school. From 1977 to 1978 she worked as a commercial clerk in Villach and then from 1978 to 1980 in the hospitality industry and in the commercial area in Matrei in East Tyrol . She then worked from 1980 to 1986 as a commercial clerk and seamstress in Matrei in East Tyrol and from 1986 to 1987 graduated from the Social Academy of the Vienna Chamber of Labor in Hinterbrühl. In 1987 she took up a position as an office assistant in the metal-mining-energy union (GMBE), where she worked from 1988 to 1996 as a legal protection secretary. She then worked as a women's secretary in the Metal-Mining-Energy / Metal-Textile Union (GMBE / GMT), before working as a secretary in the branch support department of the Textile-Clothing-Leather Union from 2003 to 2007. Kemperle has been employed as senior secretary of the ÖGB since May 2, 2007.

Politics and functions

Kemperle was active as a works councilor in Matrei in East Tyrol from 1981 to 1986 and was elected to the board of the International Textile, Clothing and Leather Workers' Association (ITGLWF) in 2004. Since 2005 she has also been a member of the executive committee of the European Textile, Clothing and Leather Trade Union Federation (EGV-TBL). She also acts as a member of the Chamber of Labor and Salaries for Vienna and is a member of the board of the pension insurance company. She has represented the SPÖ in the Federal Council since March 30, 2007, and has been the chairman of the Federal Council's Judicial Committee since December 2010. She is also secretary in the Committee on Labor, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, a member of the Committee on Family and Youth and a member of the Economic Committee.
