Monika Mühlwerth

Monika Mühlwerth (born April 24, 1954 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ). She has been a member of the Austrian Federal Council since 2006 , to which she also belonged between 1996 and 2001.

education and profession

Mühlwerth attended elementary school from 1960 to 1964 and then attended secondary school from 1964 to 1968. She then attended the polytechnic course in the 1968/69 school year and then learned the trade of retail saleswoman from 1969. She completed her apprenticeship in 1972, where she had also graduated from vocational school. Professionally, Mühlwerth was then employed as a saleswoman from 1972 to 1975. She was then a purchasing assistant from 1975 to 1979 and in 1990 she started her own business with a computer company, Walter and Monika Mühlwerth OHG. In 1994 she gave up her independence. Mühlwerth has been employed since 2006 and receives a salary from the Freedom Party.

Politics and functions

Mühlwerth began her political career as a local politician in Vienna-Neubau, where in 1987 she became a member of the Neubau district council as a district councilor. She was active as a district councilor in Vienna-Neubau until 1999 and between 1990 and 1998 also acted as the club chairwoman of the FPÖ district councils Vienna-Neubau. She was a member of the Federal Council for the first time from November 29, 1996 to April 26, 2001, and has been a member of the Federal Council again since October 30, 2006. Mühlwerth is chairman of the committee for education, art and culture and a member of the committee for foreign affairs. She is also a member of the EU Committee of the Federal Council and the Rules of Procedure committee. According to their own statements, their political priorities are in the areas of teaching, art and culture.

Mühlwerth has been active within the party since 1998 as a member of the state party leadership of the FPÖ Vienna and was a member of the state party executive of the FPÖ Vienna from 1998 to 2006. She has also been a member of the FPÖ's federal executive committee since 2005 and was elected chairman of the FPÖ's federal parliamentary group on November 5, 2009. Moreover, it is since 2006 Chairwoman of the " Initiative Freedom Women " and was from 2001 to 2006 as Vice President of the School Board Vienna.

Mühlwerth is married and has three children.
