Monika Maire-Hefti

Monika Maire-Hefti (born October 1, 1963 ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ) and member of the government of the Canton of Neuchâtel .

Life

Monika Hefti grew up in Pfungen in the canton of Zurich. During her training as a nurse , she went to La Sagne in the canton of Neuchâtel at the age of 17 and finally settled in Les Ponts-de-Martel . She married the SP politician Jacques-André Maire and had three children.

In politics, she was first in the parliament and government of the municipality where she lived. From 2005 to 2013 she was a member of the Cantonal Council , which she presided over in 2009/10. From 2006 to 2008 she was also President of the Cantonal Section of the Social Democratic Party.

She has been a member of the canton's government since May 19, 2013 . She heads the Department of Education and Family . In 2015/16 she was the district president. She was re-elected in 2017.

Monika Maire-Heft has been President of the French-speaking Swiss Conference of Directors of Education (Conférence intercantonale de l'instruction publique de la Suisse romande et du Tessin [CIIP]) and since then a member of the EDK board. Since 2017 she has also been Vice President of the Swiss Education Directors Conference EDK .
