Monika Seynsche
Monika Seynsche (* in Wuppertal ) is a German radio journalist in the field of science, the environment and freelancer for Deutschlandfunk . She reports predominantly in the daily program “ Research Current ”, Deutschlandradio Kultur and designed individual episodes of the daily program “ Background ”. She also works for BBC World Service , Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and Radio SRF 2 Kultur (DRS2).
Life
After studying landscape ecology and science journalism in Münster, Coventry and Berlin, she spent 18 months as a trainee at Deutschlandfunk (DLF) and the BBC World Service . According to her own statements, she conducted her first interview in the correctional facility in Münster . She reported on a Canadian icebreaker in the Arctic, on mountain top removal mining in the Appalachians , on the Tasmanian Devil , accompanied researchers in the ice sheet through Greenland and the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and meter-high layers of ash in Iceland. At the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft she moderated an expert discussion “Dialogue on Deck” - about the future of our cities. She hosted a program for the magazine Wissenschaft im Brennpunkt and wrote over 14.

- 2006: Prize “infinitely much energy” from the information campaign for renewable energies and the Deutsche Kreditbank for reporting on the FINO research platforms and the first offshore wind turbine , broadcast in 2005 on Deutschlandfunk Kultur
- 2007: HEUREKA Prize for "The Wrong Hand and the Right Brain - About the Riddle of Left-Handedness"
- 2007: DUH Environment Media Prize
- In 2010 Monika Seynsche received the Radio Journalism Prize from the German Nutrition Society for her feature in the DLF “The noodle core - why nutritional trends don't make us healthier”.
