Monika Tatzkow

Monika Tatzkow (* 1954 ) is a German historian .

Life

Tatzkow completed a degree in history at the Humboldt University in Berlin and received his doctorate in 1986 on the development of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the German Democratic Republic. Until the fall of the Berlin Wall , she worked as a historian at the Academy of Sciences . After 1989, Tatzkow conducted research on open property issues in Berlin, and later on looted art .

Together with Jost von Trott zu Solz , Tatzkow participated in the world's first return after the Washington Declaration on Art Restitution : a Van Gogh drawing from the Silberberg collection that was kept in the Berlin State Museums . In addition, she researches art objects around the world, for example in the USA, Switzerland, England and Russia. It achieved releases and agreements with those affected in all relevant countries and works as a cooperation partner for museums, previous owners and current owners.
