Monkonosaurus is a poorly known genus of the bird's pelvis dinosaur from the stegosauria group . It was the firstdinosaur discoveredin Tibet .

The finds are limited to two vertebrae , parts of the pelvis and three bone plates. These bone plates, typical of all stegosaurs, were large and thin and resemble those of Stegosaurus . Nothing is known about the arrangement of the plates. Based on the findings, it was calculated that Monkonosaurus reached a length of around 5 meters. It was a rather small to medium-sized stegosaur.

The fossils were found in the Lura Formation in Tibet and named after the Monko region. They are dated to the Upper Jurassic . The only species and therefore type species is Monkonosaurus lawulacus .
