The monolith of Klein-Umstadt is a possible prehistoric menhir or a medieval boundary stone near Klein-Umstadt , a district of Groß-Umstadt in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in Hesse . It was discovered in 1977 in the field south-west of the current location and behind the water station at the westernmost point of the UNESCO Geopark educational trail "The Little Mountain Road - Landscape, People and Environment in Klein-Umstadt" in the Geo-Nature Park Bergstraße-Odenwald was erected again and the base was concreted in .

The stone was discovered in March 1977 northwest of Klein-Umstadt in the parcel In der Dreilingsgewann and set up about 60 m further northeast behind the water house of the geopoint near the Amorbach brook in Gewann Bruchwiesen , which comes from Binselberg and Klein-Umstadt .

The menhir consists of Odenwälder sandstone ( red sandstone ). It has an almost rectangular cross-section (dragon square) and tapers upwards on all sides. The stone has a total height of 133 cm, 102 cm of which is accounted for by the part that is visible above ground. Its width is 59 cm and its thickness 50 cm. It is not clear whether it is a prehistoric menhir or a boundary stone of the former settlement and today's deserted Breitwiesen (today Richer district). No marks or incisions were found on the stone.
