Monster-Pups is a children's and board game by the game designer Klaus Kreowski . The game for two to four players, ages five and up, lasts around 20 minutes per round. It was published by Ravensburger in 2017 .

Theme and equipment

The game is about monsters fighting over toilets and wanting to do their business there. It combines a turning mechanism of the game board with a color die and a random system in which toilet paper rolls have to be found.

In addition to the instructions, the game material consists of:

  • a game board on a turntable showing the monster toilet with four toilets and colored floor mats,
  • four game figures (monsters) in four colors,
  • four boards in the game colors,
  • 24 double-sided monster chips, six each in the player's colors and half printed with toilet paper rolls,
  • a color cube,
  • a symbol cube,
  • 30 monster farts and
  • a stick .

Style of play

Before the start of the game, the playing field is set up by placing the game board and the turntable in the game box and aligning them. Each player then chooses a color and receives the corresponding pawn, the board and the six colored monster chips. The left neighbor shuffles the chips and places them face down on the storage tiles. The dice, the pup and the plunger are placed in the middle of the table

Actions per turn
  1. roll the dice
  2. Place monsters with pups on a suitable toilet
  3. If necessary turn the turntable with the plunger
  4. possibly pick up the monster chip with a stick

The starting player rolls the two dice. He takes a monster pup and places it under his pawn. Then he puts it on a locked toilet with a doormat that shows the color that was rolled. The monsters may only ever be placed in closed toilets, after the starting player all players may push aside a monster that has already been placed on a toilet and sit on the corresponding toilet. If the symbol die shows an arrow, the player may turn the turntable with the plunger and use it to open a hole under a toilet. If a pup falls into the game box through one of the holes, the monster has done its job and with the help of the pomme picks up one of the chips on its storage board in the hope of getting a toilet roll. After all actions have been taken, the die is passed on to the next player.

The game ends as soon as a player has found his third toilet roll. That player won the game.

Publication and response

The game Monster-Pups was developed by Klaus Kreowski and published by Ravensburger in 2017 . The game was largely positively discussed on some platforms, Harald Schrapers confirmed the game in the spielbox in March 2017:

“Monster-Pups is for smaller children and therefore very easy to do. [...] if you don't get rid of your fart fast enough, you have to reckon with the fact that your place in the loo will be denied. In any case, it's fun for the children. "
