The Mont Caro or Caro is at 1441 msnm the highest peak of the Ports de Tortosa-Beseit in Catalonia , part of the southernmost section of the Cordillera Prelitoral in northeastern Spain .

Located in the Parc Natural dels Ports in the municipality of Roquetes , it is also the highest point in the province of Tarragona . It can be reached from Roquetes on a 19 km long asphalt road, the Camí de Caro . On the summit there are two larger and several smaller antennas for television and mobile communications and a stone statue of Mary. The GR long-distance hiking trails GR-8 and GR-171 lead over it. There is a mountain hut at 1090 m .

Compared to the plain, the amount of precipitation is usually higher; below 600 m, olive cultivation is widespread in all foothills. At higher altitudes, pines dominate , especially forest and black pines .
