The Ports de Tortosa-Beseit ( Catalan also Ports de Tortosa , Ports de Beseit or simply Els Ports ; Aragonese Puertos de Bezeit ; Spanish Puertos de Tortosa-Beceite ) are a mountain range in the extreme east of the Iberian Mountains in the provinces of Castellón , Tarragona and Teruel and form the transition to the Serralada Prelitoral Catalana , the Catalan coastal mountains.
The vegetation consists to a large extent of pine forests ( mountain pine ) as well as oaks and holm oaks , to a lesser extent also of red beeches . The mountains are home to the largest population of the Iberian ibex .
Several nature reserves are designated. In the Catalan part, the Parc Natural dels Ports covers an area of 35,110 hectares. The Parc Natural de la Tinença de Benifassà in the Valencian part is 5000 hectares in size.
