history
In 1996 and 1997 prehistoric remains were discovered at the summit. Based on the finds, it can be assumed that there were a total of three settlements there. It can be assumed that the mountain was not only inhabited until ancient times, but also in the High Middle Ages. After the fall of the ancient city of Glanum, some residents moved to the nearby hills. From a text from the year 1080 it emerges that at that time a settlement existed under the name Castellum Jaucerii . In 1234 a place called Castrum Gaucerium was mentioned.
