Mont Marion-Dufresne is a mountain in the northeast of the Île de l'Est in the Crozet Islands , an archipelago in the southern Indian Ocean . Politically it belongs to the French southern and Antarctic regions .
With a height of 1050 m above sea level, it is not only the highest point on the Île de l'Est, a basaltic stratovolcano , but also the highest point in the entire archipelago.
The mountain is named after Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne (1724–1772), a French navigator and discoverer of the Crozet Islands.
