The Mont Sebert ( English : Mount Sebert) is a 555 m high island mountain of granite on the east side of the Seychelles -Insel Mahé . It is near the village of Cascade. There is a parking lot at a height of 120 m, from which an unmarked, rather steep path leads to the summit. The glacis near the summit is very smooth and steep. Also on the path are the ruins of a cinnamon distillery that was abandoned in the 1950s. From the summit you can see the Seychelles International Airport , the capital Victoria and the northwestern peninsula. The landscape at Mont Sébert is characterized by grasslands, woodlands, glacis and scree fields. Mont Sébert is a strictly protected reserve for plant species native to the Seychelles, including the jellyfish tree ( Medusagyne oppositifolia ), Mimusops Sechellarum , Excoecaria benthamiana , Toxocarpus schimperianus , Schizaea confusa as well as numerous orchids, palm trees and screw trees . The fauna is represented by skinks of the genus Janetaescincus and land snail species such as Stylodonta unidentata and Cyclostoma pulchrum .
