Mont Tautuapae is a mountain in the northwest of the island of Moorea in the archipelago of the Society Islands in French Polynesia . With a height of 769 m, it is the fifth highest point on the island and the highest point on the northwestern peninsula, which separates the Baie d'Oponohu from the Pacific . The mountain is of volcanic origin and, like almost all mountains of the Society Islands, consists of basalt .
