Montafon-Arlberg Marathon

The Montafon-Arlberg-Marathon is a marathon that has been held annually since 2003 by the organizer Arlberg Runner's Club in cooperation with the Silbertal community and the St. Anton am Arlberg tourist office . His profile identifies him as a mountain marathon .

Route

The starting area is at 881  m above sea level at the Silbertal fire station. Initially, the route runs for around 2 km, partly on asphalt, towards Schruns . After a short climb, it goes back to the fire station. Then the 18 km long ascent through the rear Silbertal begins, on forest paths to the Oberen Freschalpe at 1890  m , further up on a mountain path, where the highest point is reached at 1945 m, to the Silbertaler Winterjöchle at the foot of the Patteriol , one of the three-thousand-meter peaks Verwall group .

Then it goes downhill and mostly on forest paths past the Konstanzer Hütte ( 1688  m ) through the Verwalltal , on to St. Jakob am Arlberg at approx. 1280  m , from where the last few kilometers via Nasserein (east of St. Anton) Rise slightly through the Au to the church until you reach the destination ( 1304  m ) in St. Anton am Arlberg.

11 km of the route is on asphalt, approx. 26.7 km on forest roads and approx. 4.5 km on mountain paths. The time limit is eight hours. The 16th edition was on June 30, 2018.

New route since 2019

The route of the mountain marathon will be changed for 2019 - it will start on June 29, 2019 for the first time in St. Anton am Arlberg and end after 42.195 km in Silbertal.
