The Patteriol is a 3056  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Verwall group in Tyrol , Austria . The Patteriol is sometimes referred to as the “Matterhorn des Verwalls”.

history

The first ascent took place around 1860 by surveyors, chamois hunters and an emperor hunter .

Location and surroundings

The Patteriol is one of the eight three-thousand-meter peaks of the Verwall and belongs to the subgroup of the Fasulkamm within the Eastern Verwall group . It is the local mountain of the Konstanzer Hütte . The next higher mountain is 3148  m above sea level. A. high cake top , which is about 3 km east of the Patteriol. The notch height is 462 m, the reference notch is the 2594  m high saddle between the Vertineskopf and the Vertinespleiskopf.

In addition to the main summit, the Patteriol also has secondary summits: the south summit, also called pillar head ( 2884  m ) and the so-called Horn ( 3003  m ). Less than 1 km north of the main summit is the Kleine Patteriol ( 2590  m ).

The patteriol consists mainly of biotite - granite - gneiss .

Routes to the summit

The normal route , first used in 1891, takes four and a half hours from the Konstanzer Hütte through the Fasultal , over the Bruckmannweg and then over the southern flank of the Patteriol in difficulty II on the UIAA scale to the summit.

There are several alpine climbing tours, especially on the eastern flank, including:

  • Northeast ridge, degree of difficulty mostly III, one point each IV− and V
  • East pillar, difficulty level IV +
  • Direct south pillar (Via Nazalar), difficulty level IV +
