Silvretta Ferwall March
The Silvretta-Ferwall-Marsch is an event for runners and hikers over the marathon distance , which was launched in Galtür in 1974 and has been organized by the Silvretta Galtür ski club since August . For runners there is also a half marathon , for hikers there are distances of 13.5 km and 28 km. The highest point of the route is at 2620 m , which means that the Silvretta-Ferwall-Marathon in the Alps is only surpassed by the Graubünden Marathon and the Swiss Alpine Marathon .
The high mountain route was extended from 38 to 42.3 kilometers in 1995 and has been a mountain marathon ever since . The 2005 event had to be canceled due to the Alpine floods . A half marathon has been part of the program since 2006.
Route
The start of all routes is in Galtür. The marathon first leads to the Zeinisjoch north of the Kops reservoir and then to the southern part of the Verwall group . Via the Verbellaalpe you reach the Heilbronner Hütte at 2320 m . Behind the northeastern Jöchligrat ( 2500 m ) it goes down into the Ochsental ( 2357 m ) and then 263 meters up to the highest point of the route on the Muttenjoch. This is followed by a descent past the Friedrichshafener hut down to the Paznaun . While the 28 km hiking route leads directly to the destination in Galtür, the last third of the marathon runs on the northern edge of the Silvretta Group. First it goes up to the Lareinalpe, with a further 300 meters of altitude difference, and then on the Galtürer Höhenweg over the Eggalm in the Jamtal to the destination in Galtür. The marathon comprises 1634 vertical meters and the 28 km hike 1293.
The first part of the half marathon consists of a loop in Paznaun. It joins the marathon route where it crosses the Trisanna after passing through the Verwall . A total of 461 vertical meters have to be mastered.
