Montague Bentley Talbot Paske Smith
Montague Bentley Talbot Paske Smith CBE (* 1886 in Canada ; † 1946 ) was a British diplomat .
Life
He was trained in Guernsey . Smith joined the UK Foreign Service in 1907 and began his career training as a translator in Japan, where he was subsequently employed in various posts. In 1915 he was posted to Manila, where he became the managing consul general in 1919. In 1921 he was sent again to Japan where he was accredited in Kobe , Nagasaki and Osaka until 1930 . From 1930 to 1931 he was again acting consul general in Manila . From 1931 to 1932 he was the managing consul general in the Chinese port city of Dalian . On September 10, 1932, he became consul in Honolulu , Hawaii. He was appointed British Ambassador to Colombia on July 9, 1936.
