The Monte Baldo mountain insect ( Pseudoprumna baldensis ) is a species of grasshopper from the family of field locusts (Acrididae).
features
The Monte Baldo mountain hive is a squat built mountain hedge. It is colored light green. A dark longitudinal band runs from the eye over the tympanum to the end of the abdomen . The bandage is often only dissolved into individual spots. Legs and hearing organs are mainly cloudy reddish gray. Males reach a body length of 14 to 17 millimeters, females 19 to 22 millimeters. There are no wings. The hearing organ is well developed.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is endemic to the Italian Alps . So far, it is only known from the eastern slope of Monte Baldo at altitudes of 1650 to 1800 meters and from three mountain ranges west of Lake Garda . The latter occurrences were only discovered by Adolf Nadig in 1992. Their habitat is the alpine meadow region, where they can often be found in high density on dwarf shrubs and in grass. Adults can be found in August and September.
