The Monte Carlos V ( Spanish , completely Monte Carlos Quinto ) is a mountain near the southeast end of Lemaire Island before the Danco Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula .
Scientists of the 5th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1950-1951) named him after Charles V , whose royal decree ( Spanish Reales Cédulas ) based on the papal bull by Alexander VI. from 1493 had subordinated this area to the sovereignty of Spain before it was discovered .
