The Monte Cristo Multimedia SA was an international French producer of computer games .

history

The company was founded in 1995 by Jean-Marc de Fety and Jean-Cristophe Marquis in Paris , with the aim of developing realistic learning and training applications on the subject of business and the stock market for the PC. In 1996, the company produced a virtual stock exchange on CD-ROM for the European Commission , which EU ministers could use to simulate the exchange of European currencies. A short time later the product was expanded with various training tools and sold to universities and business schools in Europe for training purposes.

The first training program followed Wall Street Trader , which is known for its exact simulation of international stock market conditions and the like. a. was named "best educational software" by the European Commission and is one of the most successful games in this genre. Next, the company developed "Start Up 2000", in which the players can realistically start and run their own company.

As a result, Monte Cristo Multimedia developed into one of the leading providers of management and strategy games with more than 30 games . In addition to its headquarters in Paris, the company had also had a branch in Kiev since 2005 .

On May 25, 2010, Monte Cristo announced its dissolution due to financial difficulties in various player forums. The current project "Cities XL 2011" were sold to the publisher Focus Home Interactive licensee. "Cities XL 2011" was released on October 14, 2010.
