The Partners is a computer game similar to The Sims . It mainly consists of simulating human needs and relationships .

Game flow

From the top view, the player overlooks all the rooms of a law firm with the people who frequent them. The viewing angle can be changed as required by zooming and rotating . The game characters all move independently, the main characters can be influenced by commands by the player, who is, so to speak, the good spirit of the house.

It is important to satisfy their nine key needs, which differ depending on their character. This can be done with the help of suitable objects or by interacting with another character. Over a hundred different interactions are possible between the characters, ranging from hitting to becoming intimate. While the player can order the influenceable actors to use objects at will, he may only order an interaction between them if their relationships with one another allow it, and even then the outcome is uncertain.

From time to time the law firm may be offered to take on a case. The player decides on the acceptance and also on which main lawyer and which subsidiary lawyers are entrusted with it. The prospect of winning a case depends on how often the attorneys work on it and how good the lead attorney's mood is on the day of the trial. The money received in a won procedure can be used to equip the law firm with furniture and equipment or to buy new premises.

Campaigns

However, winning cases and the associated income are only a means to an end, because the goal of the game is to win a certain predetermined campaign . At The Partners , the player can choose between three campaigns:

  • Watch out, webcam! Eva Tex, co-owner of the law firm Sea, Tex & Sun, is said to inherit the chocolate bunny factory of her deceased uncle Sammy. However, the condition is that she does not fall in love before Easter. So she has to make sure that she doesn't flirt in front of the installed webcam.
  • A fateful affair . Isabella Gordon caught her husband with an intern and fired her. Another affair before her eyes would mean the divorce and closure of the Gordon & Gordon law firm. But the new lawyer Jessica Woods has just been hired.
  • End times mood . The strict JR Goodnight wants to hand over the business to his son Bobby towards the end of the year. Bobby and Wendy, who are secretly a couple, have to be even more careful now.

In order for a campaign to be completed successfully, a number of missions must be completed within the campaigns, a total of 21. Certain characters have to perform or win cases, but the interactions between the characters are the most important.

In addition, the player can design an open game with no time limit according to his own criteria. To do this, he uses one of the three rooms and up to seven characters from the campaigns, whereby he can now determine the names and characters of these characters himself.

Reviews

In addition to the computer game The Sims , the television series Ally McBeal was named as a model for the mostly friendly received game . Among other things, the characters' lack of opportunities for advancement and their restriction to the office world were criticized.
